|
|
We arrived at Crakow on January 2nd and our first steps were directed not to the Basilica but to a small Church, where the remains of St. Faustyna’s body are placed to rest. My son has never seen so many nuns and he could not believe that most of them were very young. Novices wore white veils, others wore black.
We didn’t have much time to stay so our first visit was very short and as we left my husband told me that he did not feel anything special, he was surprised because he loves St. Faustina very much. I just smiled and knew that Jesus would have His way with him, I just needed to watch.
Later that day we went back again (after settling down in our room and having a bite to eat) and as we entered we could hear the nuns praying, singing, their voices were like a sweet melody, very soft a gentle. We sat down and looked. Just looked because our hearts were overwhelmed with love and gratitude. I am fortunate to speak polish so I could join the whole community in prayer. My husband closed his eyes and as we watched him (I and my son) he slowly started to cry with tears of joy and love. Those tears touched my son’s heart very much, he looked at me and said with smile: look at Daddy. There was only a silence and a soft voice of divine mercy chaplet sung by nuns.
They were also singing carols and praying different prayers from St. Faustina’s diary ending all with a chaplet to our lady of mercy.
Still more to follow…

This is the entrance to the Church. Photo taken during Faustyna's canonization.
During our visit, almost the whole Church was filled by nuns. They have no problems with new vocations.

I'm glad you and your family had such a spiritually enriching experience.
Is St. Faustina's body in the chapel in your picture?

Lucyna,
Thank you for sharing. The prayers in song must have been beautiful to hear!

The following day I started very early greeting the God of all mercy by praying together with the community of sisters gathered in the Church. I remembered all intentions from this forum and all people who asked for prayers. The mass was very beautiful as the priest reminded us all about a special feast of the most holy name of Jesus. This feast is still celebrated by Jesuits and it is the patron feast of their congregation. In the past the whole Church celebrated that feast but after Vatican II somehow it was neglected and partially forgotten.
So we lifted Jesus’ name up on high, thanked God for His son, whom He gave that Holy and powerful name so every knee could bend and every tongue confess that Jesus is the Lord.
After mass I went to the perpetual adoration chapel which is open to the public 24 hours and placed once again all your intentions. The chapel can hold many people and it is very simple and beautiful.
The second mass, which we all attended together (the first one was too early for my two boys) was in the basilica. Beautiful place with many chapels in the lower part of the Church including the chapel dedicated to St. Faustina with her relic placed under the altar. These smaller chapels will serve many different groups coming to visit and will allow priests to celebrate masses in different languages.
After the mass my husband and son left that day to see Auschwitz which was a wonderful and very profound experience for my son. He was truly touched by the visit. I will post few pictures later. They had an honor to see the room, where St. Maximilian Kolbe died saving a life of another .
I on the other hand was visiting different chapels in the Basilica chatting with Jesus about wonders, which He has done in that place. Everyone can be assured of St. Faustyna's humble presence in that place and according to the degree of openness everyone receives new graces and favors. I prayed for you all asking God to bless your souls, bless your families and I know that He has done that for you.
The sisters pray each day for all humanity, for all in need so my prayers were joined to theirs.
May the Almighty and merciful God bless you all in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. I brought that blessing from the priest celebrating the mass and I brought it for you

That is so wonderful, Lucyna.
Thank you very much for prayers.
Thank You Lord, for Your Son, and for St. Faustina, and letting the world know of Your Divine Mercy.

I feel like praying the litany of divine mercy looking at your sharing and that picture.
O thank you.
Divine Mercy, gushing forth from the bosom of the Father, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, greatest attribute of GOD, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, incomprehensible mystery, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, fountain gushing forth from the mystery of the Most Blessed Trinity, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, unfathomed by any intellect, human or angelic, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, from which wells forth all life and happiness, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, better than the heavens, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, source of miracles and wonders, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, encompassing the whole universe, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, descending to earth in the Person of the Incarnate Word, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, which flowed out from the open wound of the Heart of JESUS, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, enclosed in the Heart of JESUS for us, and especially for sinners, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, unfathomed in the institution of the Sacred Host, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in the founding of Holy Church, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in our justification through JESUS CHRIST, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, accompanying us through our whole life, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, embracing us especially at the hour of death, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, endowing us with immortal life, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, accompanying us every moment of our life, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, shielding us from the fire of hell, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in the conversion of hardened sinners, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, astonishment for Angels, incomprehensible to Saints, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, unfathomed in all the mysteries of GOD, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, lifting us out of every misery, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, source of our happiness and joy, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in calling us forth from nothingness to existence, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, embracing all the works of His hands, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, crown of all of god's handiwork, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in which we are all immersed, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, sweet relief for anguished hearts, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, only hope of despairing souls, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, repose of hearts, peace amidst fear, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, delight and ecstasy of holy souls, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, inspiring hope against all hope, I trust in You.
Eternal GOD, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.
Amen. _________________ "PRAYER IS JOY, PRAYER IS WHAT THE HUMAN HEART DESIRES"

Nova,
Yes, the remains of her body are placed under the altar to the left, often the Blessed Sacrament is placed there for adoration. There is also a relic placed in the small chapel in the Basilica located 5 minutes from the old Church. I remember (few years ago) being on the cemetery and seeing Faustina's grave but now it is no longer there. Her body was moved into the Church.
Scott,
No, this is not my album It took me a while to find it . Taking pictures in the Church and Sanctuary is not allowed so I did not take any.

Thank you Victoria
There is a train called “Papal Train” connecting three beautiful places in Krakow: place of John Paul's birth - Vadowice, Lagiewniki where the sanctuary of Divine Mercy is built and a shrine of Mary. Three places very dear to Karol Wojtyla and now to thousands of pilgrims wanting to visit.
Here is the picture of that train. This picture does not show but there is a dove painted on both sides and the words: Totus Tuus

MaryMartha and Serenity,
Thank you for visiting this thread and for allowing me to share with you my joy. Every gift is given to us to share and I desire to share my special love for the divine mercy with you and with all I meet.
I was in Crakow also 4 years ago, when John Paul II came to bless the Basilica of Divine Mercy. He consecrated the whole world that very day to the merciful heart of God. He was already sick and weak but nothing could stop him from visiting and celebrating the mass. I had a special invitation to attend that mass and I will never forget its power and beauty. I already shared with other friends on the forum that when the crowd left I went up to the tabernacle and kissed every step and the tabernacle itself . I kissed the altar on which the Holy Father just celebrated the mass and my soul danced as prayed for every soul I knew thanking God for that awsome gift of being there.
